Dr. Paul A. Cantelmi has been providing high quality dental care to pediatric patients in New York and New Jersey since 2010. He is especially excited to find a permanent home for his practice in beautiful Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, where he grew up, has spent his life, and currently lives. Serving the community that he loves is very important and rewarding to Dr. Paul.
Dr. Paul received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Union College in Schenectady, New York in 1999. In 2010, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and went on to complete a two-year specialty training residency in pediatric dentistry at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. There he served as chief resident, provided dental care to high-risk populations, and developed a philosophy with a strong focus on prevention of dental disease. Dr. Paul is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is also an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Paul strives to make each visit a positive experience for his patients and their parents. His kindness and down-to-earth approach with children help to make them comfortable and enables them to have a fun and rewarding experience in the dentist’s office. Dr. Paul believes that taking the time to educate parents and starting a dialogue to answer all questions is essential to prevention of dental disease in their children. He also speaks fluent medical and conversational Spanish, making these encounters just as positive and beneficial with patients and parents who are Spanish speaking.
Providing dental care to those most in need has always been a passion for Dr. Paul. While in dental school, he was a founding member of a free clinic run by medical and dental students from Columbia University and provided screenings to the homeless and at-need in Northern Manhattan. He also traveled to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, where he participated in mercy missions providing dental treatment to the needy there.
Dr. Paul is a New York City native and loves to spend all his free time with his lovely wife, Dana, and their two daughters, Chloe and Kyle. He is an avid traveler, and loves reading, skiing, and SCUBA diving.
